Urchin Tracking Module: UTM links
It’s important to keep track of the UTM links you are using across various websites and campaigns. When you work with Chevron Analytics I will provide you with your own custom spreadsheet that will automatically create your coded UTM links that you can track in Google Analytics 4. You’ll have an ongoing record of your sources, campaigns and tracking links.
Would you like to use a vanity url, or short link, to use for print or audio campaigns? We can track those too!

What is UTM Tracking?
UTM tracking, or Urchin Tracking Module tracking, is a method used by marketers and businesses to track the effectiveness of their online campaigns, particularly for links coming from partner sites, digital ads, social media and email marketing.
A UTM code is a string of parameters added to a URL that helps track the source, medium, and campaign name of website traffic. By adding these codes to links, businesses can identify which marketing campaigns are driving traffic to their website, as well as which specific elements of the campaigns are most effective.
The UTM parameters consist of five elements:
Source: the specific platform or website that the traffic came from (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, email newsletter, etc.).
Medium: the type of traffic source, such as social media, email, display advertising, etc.
Campaign: the name of the campaign or promotion being run.
Term: used for paid search campaigns to identify the specific keywords used.
Content: used to differentiate ads or links that point to the same URL, for example, by testing different images or calls-to-action.
UTM tracking allows businesses to accurately measure the success of their online campaigns and adjust their strategies accordingly.
